It was the third week of quarantine and I had been watching the flowers in my dining room age for over a week. What was once a thriving gift a friend left on my doorstep now had new meaning. In a moment of inspiration I photographed what was in front of me. The flowers don't look perfect, they don't look fresh, but they look beautiful nonetheless. I played with shadows, different light and exposure. There's an element of mess to them as you can see the pollen that has fallen onto the table and there is warmth in some and coolness in others. Much like the state of the world right now, isn't it? My heart has grown heavy during this time, but it has also grown lighter in many ways. These images will always remind me of the juxtaposition we are all feeling right now and so I offer these to you as a similar reminder. We are growing weary, but stronger in this beautiful mess, together.
